Application Security
November 9, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Any website may use a number of different applications to ensure the best possible experience for their visitors. Unfortunately these applications can fall victim to the hackers, who exploit any weaknesses held within them to gain access to parts of the website with a view to doing damage or gaining information that should be kept private.
For example, we have probably all received emails from time to time that purport to be from a well known national or international bank, telling us that our account details need to be updated. Apart from the fact that half the time you don’t even have an account with that bank (proving just how many people must receive these emails for them to be effective), if you take a look at the URL it directs you to – don’t ever actually click on it though – you will see that there is usually a subtle difference between that URL and the real one. It may only be one letter different but that difference is all it takes to dupe people into giving the scammers their information.
While many people don’t fall for these, a worrying number of people still do and that means it is even more important that your own website and applications are as secure as possible, so hackers cannot access them and meddle with any of your own applications.
So what is the best route to take to make sure you can do this?
The answer is to hire a company that provides application penetration testing. This is the surest way to find out how secure your systems are to begin with, and if any loopholes or vulnerabilities are found by the experts you can be sure that they will solve the problems before anyone else finds out about them and exploits them.
It may be that your applications are perfectly sound, but whatever the company finds you can be sure you will receive the one thing you really want for you and your clients, and that is peace of mind.
There is no doubt that the businesses who can legitimately say they perform regular checks in this and other areas of internet security will be rewarded by more business and more customers. Security is one of the biggest issues online today and it will always be in your best interests to do all you can to protect yourself and your customers.
The benefits of application testing not only include finding and highlighting any potential problem areas, they also include resolving them so that they aren’t ripe for being exploited in the future.
But don’t make the mistake of having this testing done once and then never having it done again. The world of hacking is always changing and advancing, and just because your website is deemed to be safe now, that doesn’t mean it will always be so. Make sure you get application testing done on a regular basis as your experts would advise, so that you are always protected against the latest threats and advances in the field.
Pure Hacking helps protect your Internet security by providing world-class penetration testing and ethical hacking risk management services. For a free consultation, please visit Penetration Testing.

Car Hiring Tips for Ireland Tourists
November 5, 2008 | 2 Comments
There is really no doubt that Ireland is a wealth of history and culture. It’s a place of magnificent castles, museums, cathedrals, park, gardens, heritage sites, historical buildings, and other natural treasures like mountains, beaches, lakes, bays and many more. Dublin is a place that won’t let you stop; you’ll just be craving for more to see and experience!
You’re probably thinking right now about how you’ll get to these places once you’re in Ireland. Is hiring a car one of the things you’re thinking of? Well, it is indeed a great idea! Whether you’re on your own, or with your family, friend or with your special someone, hiring a car is a perfect idea.
Here are some tips that you might want to consider if you’re planning to hire a car in Ireland:
• Before you even consider which company to go to, you must first evaluate your needs; decide on the size of car you want so that you can avoid making hasty or expensive decisions.
• Have a list of car hire companies in Ireland then choose among these rental companies. To get the best rate possible, you should call several different rental companies and ask for a price estimate, or search online.
• Make sure that you know your insurance inside and out, make sure that you are covered.
• Get the least amount of car that will satisfy your needs. Go for a simple yet comfortable car because the bigger and glamorous the car, the more money you’ll be spending.
• Look for discounts or special rates, most of car rental companies offer special prizes for a certain time of the year. Most of these discounts are scheduled during vacation seasons.
• Another important thing is to make sure to ask if there will be extra charges that will increase the base rental rate.
• Return the hired car on time. If you return your car late, the rental agency may charge you as much as a full day’s rental, sometimes at a rate higher than before.
There are so many car hire companies in Dublin. What is important here is for you to choose what you think is best and will fit into the budget you assigned for it. With car rental companies, a special tour around Dublin is made possible on an efficient way!
CarHire.ie is an independent car rental company in Ireland. With 19 years of customer satisfaction, this car rental company has earned Ireland’s Best Service Excellence Award. You will go on an all inclusive holiday
November 4, 2008 | 1 Comment
It has recently been announced that the number of people going on all inclusive holidays has increased and is increasing further. We have seen an increase of a little over 30% in the past five years and the number is predicted to increase a lot more in the next twelve months. This is no doubt down to the ever tightening hold that the credit crunch has over the economy.
People are becoming extra careful with their money now and by choosing the right deal suited to you, you could be set to save hundreds of pounds on your holiday next year.
All inclusive holidays accounted for over 50% of holidays this year from the UK and as the deals are becoming more tailored, more and more variety is now available which will see the statistic rise again.
Whilst the travel industry is at its worst in years with many big companies going bust, package holiday providers are seeing stability rather than decline and some companies are set to see rises with more and more people looking to maximise holiday budgets. Hopefully with the decrease in the price of oil, flights will be able to fall to their low prices enabling more people to go on holiday regaining some stability back to the market.
Countries such as Egypt and Turkey are likely to see increased numbers of tourists as we notice more favourable exchange rates offered to us. This would be another option for people trying to get the most out of the holiday budget.
Cheap holidays are out there for next year and by booking all inclusive holidays you will save more money for your holiday budget.

Job Opportunities For Polish Translators
October 31, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Most of the international business pioneers recognize Polish as one of the primary languages in the business world. Nowadays, it is very hard to ignore the presence of polish economy in international sectors and doing business with polish companies has the strong caliber to take your business to new heights of success. Many of the business entrepreneurs prefer to have polish translators who can complete the job with remarkable accuracy and in the style of a worry free execution. Polish is the most widely spoken of the West Slavic languages and it is one of the main languages in Central Europe. No doubt, Poland has the largest count of polish speaking translators but as the doors of international business have opened even more wide ever since Poland has been a member of EU in May 2004, more and more people are trying to become polish translators as it gives them a good living. Many European companies invested huge sums of money into the Polish economy, which has lead to the increasing importance of Polish translators. A good polish translator takes $ 0.06 to $ 0.16 per word which is a pretty handsome amount.
There is a pretty vast variety of sectors where a good polish translator can befit himself sectors of work like document translations, interpretations of conferences, website translations, editing proof reading, voice over, dubbing, content writing and transcriptionist etc. always have a great demand for polish translators and it is ever rising.
Below I am going to explore some of the job opportunities for polish translators.
Document translations
There is a vast variety of documentation work ranging from technical, engineering, art, literature, medical, legal, science, financial to advertising which have a great demand of polish translators. Possibilities are immense and if one is fluent enough in polish, he will most probably be never short of work. All these fields have regular work. One can start in the area of his interest and expertise.
Interpretation jobs in conferences
In the world of international businesses, conferences are as common as inhaling oxygen to live. These conferences are often held every now and then to increase the collaboration and understanding. Due to the gap in languages between English and Polish, there is a strong demand of polish interpreters in these conferences, to avoid communication gaps. Most English speaking people don’t know polish and same goes with polish speaking people. A good interpreter can act like a bridge between two business fraternities thus helping in increasing business and a better understanding of each other.
Website translations
To sell in foreign markets you need to speak in the language of your customer. Even though your customers find your website, they find it difficult to understand your offer, and so they use a local site. So if you want to expand your business and reach the international market to maximize your profits it is almost imperative to have a multi-lingual website. Your website should be tailored to suit the foreign audience and speak the language of your customers. It should be accessible, usable and culturally suitable to the target audience.
Possibilities are immense and a good Polish Translator will surely not like to miss them any.

Holiday discount codes
October 31, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Using holiday discount codes could help you to make large savings when booking your next break. The only trouble for many of us is in trying to find a reliable website that lists all of the relevant codes.
Though there are some significant savings to be made from holiday vouchers, there can be no doubt that promotional codes have not been offered as frequently in the travel sector as they have by some other retailers.
Many of us shopping for clothes online, for example, have got into the habit of checking for a code to see whether we can make a saving. That’s because we know that many clothing stores are offering discounts of this nature on a frequent basis.
Travel companies, on the other hand, don’t seem to have been anywhere near as quick to embrace the idea of discount vouchers. Why might this be?
In general terms, vouchers have tended to be offers by retailers who want to set themselves apart from their competitors. They’ve often been used as a way of tempting new customers to shop with them and also as a means of ensuring that existing customers keep coming back.
The situation in the travel sector is slightly different, as a lot of consolidation has taken place in recent years.
These changes have meant that, in effect, a number of different travel companies are often under single ownership. In these cases they may see little point in offering discounts if they are effectively only going to be competing with alternative providers from within the same group of companies.
Independent travel and tour operators are more likely to offer discount codes and yet we frequently hear consumers saying that they can’t get access to such discounts.
It seems to be the case that promotional codes in the travel sector are much less widely publicised. If you want to take advantage of the lower prices that are to be found then the key is to find a listings directory that provides all of the latest travel codes.
By doing so, you can benefit from cheaper holidays.

Stay cheaply in a bed and breakfast in Britain
October 30, 2008 | 2 Comments
The credit crunch may be a source of anxiety to those from abroad travelling to Britain for work or pleasure. However, it also has opportunities for British resident wishing to spend a short break or off season holiday in our lovely island. Certainly our bed and breakfast can be expensive. However, the high prices are a factor everywhere across the Western World as that is the period that generally pays for the lean winter months. Our Bed and breakfast owners only due what every other country does and that is exploit the laws of supply and demand.
This year, there is no doubt that bookings levels are down on the previous year and with many proprietors worrying about next year’s bookings now is a good time to secure a discounted rate for next summer. Many expect that the credit crunch will prevent tourists coming to Britain. Another reason to book your British holiday now. I don’t think it will be a bad season. The pound has dropped against the Euro and the Dollar making us seem better value for money and many Britons will be tightening their belts as the recession starts to bite and many will stay in Britain and holiday at here instead of going abroad so it could be a good season for our bed & breakfast owners. Never the possibility of a bad season still exists.
The seeming national idea that Britain is not somewhere to holiday if you already live here is strange. Sure the weather can be unpredictable and yes it can be wet and windy but the beauty of the landscape at all times of the year make a little bad weather worth braving and the landscape of these islands is so varied that you could never run out of new places to visit and enjoy. Because of that poor perception, many of the bed and breakfast and self catering owners really do want your business and are quite prepared to drop their prices to secure it.
In short, haggle. I know its not something we British do naturally but the bargains are out there if your willing to ask for them. Usually the b&b owner will only give a discount if you book for several nights or a week at least and this is possibly still the case but at this time of the year, you hold all the trump cards. In the high season, the bed & breakfast is often fully booked for weeks in advance but at this time they all have vacancies and know that if they dont offer a discount when asked, their competitors will and there is a queue waiting to take the room if they can’t sell it to you.
Don’t be too assertive but do ask for discounts, especially if you are staying mid-week which at any time of the year is really hard to fill. B&B owners have a tough time getting through the low season so any business, as long as it more than covers the cost, is business worth having and next year is an unknown so book ahead and ask for a discount. As a nation we don’t exploit the possibility of discounted prices because we don’t want to appear rude. The truth is the rates are there if you ask We also don’t realise how beautiful our regions are and that there is a great deal to be said for a holiday, short break or longer, in our own country. We know the food, we know the language, we understand the humour, we like the beer and we understand the weather and how to cope with it. That is a lot more than we can say for a lot of international destination, even those that profess to speak English.

Use The Internet To Find Cheap Flights In Greece
October 26, 2008 | Leave a Comment
If you are planning a trip to Greece for a vacation or if you are feeling a little homesick and would love to go home for a while but cannot really afford the trip take heart, it is possible to find cheap flights in Greece by Internet surfing.
Obviously there have been great strides made in technology so why not use that to your advantage by booting up the computer and checking out the thousands of offers that are available through the Internet. You can always start out with a basic search such as “cheap flights to Greece” or even “finding cheap flights to Greece”. There is no doubt that this search will yield a great deal of results, but as you start sifting through them it may get a little easier to figure out which would be right for you.
If you have nerves of steel and can be ready at the drop of a hat then you may want to consider going online to find some of those great last-minute deals. Why nerves of steel? Well, let’s face it, if you have been planning to take this trip for a while it can be a little nerve racking to keep your fingers crossed and hope that a cancellation will happen right when you need it. Or, you are on stand-by, again hoping that it will come through now when you need it. While you are at the airport you may be able to get a discount or even a voucher for future travel if the flight is over-booked and you offer to wait for another one.
However, you do not have to literally hold your breath and hope that you can get a seat on the plane. There are many discount sites on the Internet and you have probably heard of most of them, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. where you can still find deals a little further in advance. Some of these work by you placing a bid, or you just enter the price that you want to spend on the flight and hope that you are able get it. You can also do something similar by going to EBay and looking over all the trips and placing a bid on one of those.
Many times you can get a great combination rate, meaning if you also include a car rental or hotel stay, they may offer a good discount on the whole package. You can also find cheap flights in Greece by Internet when you check out the different airlines websites looking at their scheduled stops and transfers. Many airlines offer reduced prices depending on the number of transfers involved as many people want a flight that goes straight through without stops. So, if you do not mind having to make a few plane changes or if you do not have a problem having to wait a while at an airport during layovers, then you should be able to get a great deal.
In order to find cheap flights in Greece by Internet you only need to have Internet access, a little patience and perhaps a little luck.

Job Interview Questions and Answers - How to deal with tough questions
October 26, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Job interviews are stressful no doubt, however if one is properly prepared then there are umpteen chances that he or she will be able to crack the interview.
The job interview questions and answers does not only test a candidates intellect but it also test the candidates presence of mind, his patience and his overall attitude.
Every candidate who comes for a job should be properly prepared. An unprepared mind will make fool out of himself in the interview room. Every candidate who comes for the interview has almost the same qualification and the same aspiration. So it is imperative for a candidate to distinguish himself from the crowd; personal branding of oneself is a must and it always plays a pivotal role in a candidate’s success.
At present there are no guides on job interview questions and answers which focus on personal USP. USP a marketing concept stands for unique selling proposition; a candidate USP will create a distinct image of the candidate in the mind of the interviewer which will distinguish him from the rest of the candidate. The job interview questions and answers session tests a candidate’s mettle, his preparation and his ability to influence the interviewer. Some typical questions which are generally asked are: describe yourself, why do you want to join our company, how do you handle stress, are you a team–man, what is a your expected salary, why should we hire you, what is your work ethics, what is your dream job, why did you leave your previous job, describe about your previous work, do you have any question to ask and so on.
The candidate should be prepared with his personal profile but while presenting it, it should not appear as a rehearsed activity. While presenting the personal profile a candidate should mention his educational qualification, his family background and his achievements. If the achievement is in the relevant field for which the candidate has applied then it should be mentioned very clearly. Answers should be precise and to the point. While answering, the candidate should address everybody, make proper eye contact, should have proper body language and should always carry a pleasant smile on his face.
The candidate should state that he has relevant qualification for the post for which he has applied, he is a team man and for him work is more important than money but it should not be overstated. About why did he leave his previous job a candidate should be honest but should not allow the focus to shift in this direction. On being asked about the expected salary; the job-seeker should not make the first statement as he may end up losing if the employer was willing to pay more. The job interview question and answers slightly differ for a fresher and for a work experienced. For a fresher the focus is on his education and his other relevant skills whereas for a work experienced the focus is on his previous work. No job interview question and answer guide will help a candidate unless and until he believes in himself.

What Can You Do On A Daily Basis To Keep Your Data Safe?
October 21, 2008 | Leave a Comment
There is no doubt that as far as your computer systems are concerned, staying safe on the internet is a constant battle. While you may employ professionals to perform penetration testing on a regular basis, to see if they can access any systems from the outside, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be doing everything you can yourself on a daily basis to make sure everything stays secure.
To a certain extent some of this boils down to common sense. You should always ensure you back up all your data every single day at the close of business, to make sure that even if the worst happens, you have all your business information on separate discs – which should ideally be held in a safe, and preferably away from your place of work, in case it is broken into.
It’s also important to think about the effect that your employees could have on the security of all your business data. For example it can be alarmingly easy for someone who doesn’t know what they are doing to open your business up to threats from hackers who are trying to access your systems from the outside.
For this reason it is a good idea to arrange network security training for everyone you employ, to ensure that they are fully aware of what they should and should not do when using company computer systems. For example, some employees might unwittingly open a suspicious email and download an attachment onto their machine which could unleash a virus. If this happens the consequences could be disastrous.
But by sending every employee on a computer security awareness course, you can protect your business more fully by educating them to be aware every single day and with every single action they take.
It is also wise to put in place certain protocols regarding passwords and who should have access to which files and areas of the system. Not everyone will need to access everything and if you limit certain people’s usage to the areas that they need and no more, then you will automatically be limiting the potential errors and problems that may occur if one of these people happens to perform an action which exposes your system to hacking from an outside source.
Encryption is another possibility which is worth reviewing on a regular basis. Some businesses create important files on a daily basis, and if these are encrypted as soon as they are complete then even if the system is breached, a hacker will have a much tougher job to access the information.
There are plenty of companies around that have a long track record in helping businesses make sure they are as fully protected and hacker proof as they can possibly be. It is well worth enlisting the services of a business like this on a regular basis, as they will be able to advise you as to what you can do on a daily basis – and over the long term – to keep your business and your data safe from prying eyes.

Career Advice: Can You Work At Home Successfully?
October 20, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The idea of working from home, empowered by telecommuting technology, is enticing. But can you achieve your career goals in this mode?
No doubt about it, on this career path there are no hard and fast hours, no bosses looking over your shoulders, no time wasted or cost incurred commuting. You can enjoy the comfort of working in a wam-up suit and running shoes instead of a tie or high heels. Snacks are ready in the frig. You can take an after-lunch nap.
And it’s environmentally responsible. It’s been estimated that if only five percent of workers in the Los Angeles area worked at home, some 200 million miles of driving would be eliminated each year, saving about 10 million gallons of fuel and reducing the amount of pollutants dumped in the air by 50,000 tons.
Employers can expand geographically, even into foreign countries, without taking on the added overhead of expanding facilities in new locations.
It’s no surprise that with advances in high tech tools such as tele-conferencing and networking, more employers and employees are adopting the practice.
IS WORKING AT HOME FOR EVERYBODY?
All of this sounds very inviting but is it for everybody? Would you be as happy and as productive? Does tele-commuting fit your career path?
Do you have the discipline to roll out of bed on time and put in a normal day’s work when the boss is not there to check on you? Will you miss being with associates, working on projects, meetings in the hallway and around the water cooler? Could you fight off the temptation to postpone an assignment in order to watch a soap opera or sports on TV? Or wait until the end of the workday to go to the supermarket? Can you push off friends who can’t understand you are really working?
What happens to new ideas and the power of synergism that come from people working side by side? What about productivity?
“Some of our best ideas, our fun conversations, come from spontaneity, working in a big open office and chitchat,” states Tory Johnson, CEO of Women For Hire.
“Telecommuters can find themselves out of the loop, be it work-related on even a bit of gossip that everyone else is sharing, no matter how hard the entire staff works at keeping everyone in touch,” declares Ms. Johnson.
Managers can feel constricted in keeping track of hours actually worked and progress being made on assignments.
On the other hand, “Contrary to the concept that workers are prone to slack off when they’re not in the office, (employees) have a financial incentive to make telecommuting work,” says Eric Buntin, managing director of a World of Work study. “They’re likely to work harder at home to keep the arrangement. The key is productivity.”
It’s a good idea to think twice before opting to switch to working alone at home. Managers and those who report to them have to find new styles and attitudes and new disciplines to make assignments and insure accountability.
